Dr Chad Shepherd

Dr Chad Shepherd is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and has worked within Clinical Psychology services for over six years. His three year undergraduate honours degree in Psychology was at South Bank University, which he combined with working in a range of clinical settings. Following this he completed his three year Doctorate training in Clinical Psychology at University College London, undertaking clinical work, academic study and research

He currently works as a Clinical Psychologist for the NHS in Kingston Wellbeing IAPT service (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy), helping patients with physical health and/or mental health issues. He carries out direct patient work, consults to staff around the psychological management of health difficulties and is the service lead for helping patients cope with medically unexplained symptoms.

Dr Shepherd also works privately as part of the Clinical Health Psychology Team within the Hypermobility Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth, St John’s Wood. Dr Shepherd has a particular interest in helping individuals with Rheumatological problems and expertise in pain management.

Dr Shepherd works with children, adolescents and adults presenting with a variety of difficulties. These include managing chronic pain, fatigue, sleeping difficulties, health problems, chronic stress, anxiety, low mood, anger management, low self-esteem, motivation problems and relationship difficulties.

Chad is highly skilled in providing interventions to help people manage complex conditions with multiple physical symptoms. Through this work he has developed and refined his skills in pain and fatigue management, motivation, rehabilitation and relapse prevention. He has a particular interest in helping individuals with Rheumatological problems.

Emotional and Mental Health

Chad provides time limited evidence based interventions for a wide range of mental health and emotional difficulties, including anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, anger and depression
